Aedas is holding an exhibition ‘From Zero to One’ in Central, Hong Kong, until Saturday 14 February 2015.  It is about the design process, which is demonstrated through Aedas’ building designs and five bookshelf prototypes.
 
This evening Aedas hosted an opening cocktail, at which Keith Griffiths, Chairman of Aedas, joined other guests including leaders from the real estates, hospitality, design and other industries to kick-off the public exhibition. “At Aedas we encourage our designers to engage with the society they design for, to understand the society and culture of the communities. One of the ways is to involve in arts and culture events,” he said. “We organise this exhibition as a community arts programme to share with people how a design comes to life from zero to one.”
 
Griffiths also announced that UK firm RHWL and its Arts Team has recently joined Aedas to strengthen the company’s capability in designing architecture that support and facilitate the arts. “Arts and cultural activities enrich the environment and stimulate community and civic pride. Everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy and participate in the arts and this is the cornerstone of our design approach.”
 
The five exhibiting bookshelf prototypes were recently produced during an intensive internal design workshop ‘Think Tank’. Last December our architects and a few local architecture students gathered at the workshop of Channels, a London-based furniture company, to design and produce bookshelf prototypes, drawing inspirations from other design disciplines to bring new dimensions to design.
 
Above everything Aedas places creativity and creative thinking. Every year Aedas organises an intensive design boot camp named ‘Think Tank’ at which a group of selected architects from across her global offices can spark and exchange new creative ideas.
