Project signing ceremony for two significant Chongqing sites

The contract signing ceremony for Aedas’ designs and developments of Flower Market-Europe Street 92 and Chongqing Kinghand West Pheonix Cultural Town Project was held on 16 August 2016 at The Westin Chongqing Liberation Square. Aedas’ Chairman Keith Griffiths led Directors to attend the ceremony with the clients Chongqing Xinyuanxing Enterprise Group and Kinghand Housing, marking an important step to kick off the collaborations. With the support of UKTI, all leaders had a business breakfast meeting with Sir Martin Donnelly, Permanent Secretary for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy of UK Government to discuss Chongqing’s future architecture and development before the ceremony in the same venue.

Flower Market-Europe Street 92 is the last remaining important site in North Central Business District of Chongqing and the third major project that Aedas is designing in this important district. Phoenix mixed-commercial project sits on an excellent site in South Chongqing that Aedas won this project against an international competition with its beautiful and outstanding design.

Aedas is already designing Guanyinqiao Sincere Center Phase 2 and Longfor 1st Avenue which will be completed by 2018 and the end of 2017 respectively. Guanyinqiao Sincere Center Phase 2 is a mixed-commercial project comprising a 150-metre office tower with Sincere Group’s new headquarters, a 100-metre serviced apartment tower and a large shopping mall connected to Sincere's existing very successful high end mall. Longfor 1st Avenue divides the plot into three parts to deliver a stylish, leisure destination in modern architectural language with unique Sichuan and Chongqing cultures. All three projects are adjacent to each other so Aedas’ designs will occupy the centre of the important North business district of Chongqing.

Since 2005, Aedas designed many major Chongqing’s mixed-commercial developments, including Starlight Place in Nanping district which was completed in 2012, and Sincere Financial Center in Jiafangbei completed in 2015. Aedas' world-class solutions in response to the local social and cultural needs have brought to them huge successes in establishing Chongqing’s landmarks as well as a large portfolio of forthcoming projects.

Other forthcoming projects in Chongqing include Xinhua Bookstore Group Jiefangbei Book City Mixed-use Project, Hechuan Maotian Jianbo City Phase 3 Mixed-use Project, Ciqikou Guofu Shaci Plaza Project, Longfor Yuanzhu Mixed-use Project, Happiness Plaza Gaoke The Light of North Office Project and TaoYuanJu International Garden.

“Our work is in demand as our understanding of local markets and culture work ensures our designs are relevant and responsible. We also found that developers are seeking new and more flexible development products and Aedas’ designers enjoy working hard to find innovative and sustainable solutions to this new, sophisticated and more responsible market,” shared Aedas’ Chairman Keith Griffiths.

Aedas ‘global and local’ design model reinforces its position in Chongqing and West China. It sees the necessity to understand the unique market, culture and requirements of each China’s cities and therefore has established offices in Chengdu for West China, Shanghai for East China with the Beijing office serving the North and Hong Kong serving the South. This network of offices in China shares all design and business development information whilst each office has its own local work and knowledge, facilitating to deliver unique design solutions and shape the architecture future for Chongqing and West China.
