Wrexham Maelor Adult Mental Health Unit

Wrexham, UK

Part of the Welsh Estates Framework Programme, this 5,400 sqm project is a reprovision of mental health services currently housed in accommodation on the Wrexham Maelor Hospital main site, which is deemed no longer fit for purpose. The service provision for the scheme includes two 18 bed acute wards, an eight bed PICU unit, an assessment suite, ECT Suite as well as substantial shared activity facilities and supporting accommodation.

The key concept for Wrexham Maelor Adult Mental Health Unit is to provide single bedroom accommodation in light, airy comfortable wards designed to complement the therapeutic interventions of the staff. The facility has been designed to allow discrete entry and assessment whilst still providing a separate bright and welcoming entrance foyer.
