Stockley Academy

London, UK

The practice was appointed to design its first Academy in Hillingdon, West London.

The new £19m Academy provides a new 1150-place secondary school with a Science and Technology specialism and replaced the existing Evelyn’s Community school. The new academy was built whilst the existing building was in operation.

The design of the new school has at its heart a large central top lit atrium and all the accommodation is located either side of this space. The atrium provides the school with a large flexible area that can be used as a social space for the children, for exhibition, for performance and for a whole host of other functions.
