Saitama Super Arena
Saitama, Japan
Designed by Dan Meis, in association with Nikken Sekkei and Ellerbe Becket
The symbolic heart of Saitama Prefecture, the Saitama Super Arena features sports-themed restaurants, theatres, virtual reality simulators, a Japanese Sports Hall of Fame and numerous interactive educational exhibits that wrap a 250,000 sq. f. arena. It is a ‘convertible’ building capable of transforming from a 5,000 seat venue to a 20,000 seat arena to a 30,000 seat stadium. The US$750 million complex is seen as a striking visual demonstration of Japanese technology coupled with the latest in American design.
